This series of discrete additions to a rambling former farmhouse sits on 80 acres in Southeastern Wisconsin. The project produces a comfortable retreat from the city for an extended family, and must have a range of qualities that embrace animated gatherings as well as moments of solitude.
The project responds to the ecologies of the rolling landscape of Wisconsin. The ubiquitous skin lifts or drops to create strong visual links between the interior of the new addition and the framed ecologies.
Combined with traditional craft, advanced modeling and computer controlled fabrication was instrumental to the construction of the main structure.
